This heavy-duty steel chicken "tractor" shelter frame is perfect for the farmer or homesteader who needs a sturdy mobile shelter to protect their pasture-raised poultry from the elements and predators.

It's got 336 square feet of floor space, with dimensions of 14' x 24'. Steel will last so much longer than wood that you won't need to build another shelter in several years - start with high-quality and save yourself the rework later. Because it disassembles easily, it also fits right on your utility trailer. 

It's so easy to assemble this frame that it takes two people under an hour for the initial (easy) build. Simply add fencing or hardware cloth (we don't recommend chicken wire) on the sides and lower edges, wiggle wire track (C-channel) to hold in place your silage tarp for shade, a tow chain to pull it (you'll use with your tractor, skid steer, or pickup), a rubber conveyor belt or other flexible end pieces to make sure no birds are run over during your daily moves, then add your hanging feeders and waterers with pipes to run them, and you're ready to set up your portable electric net fencing and get to raising your meat birds. 

It's easy enough to disassemble that if you are leasing land and have to move all your infrastructure, you could take this apart without damaging it. You could design this livestock house as a hen tractor if you add roost bars and laying boxes. You could also use this structure as a shade structure for other livestock when not in use for poultry. Other poultry like pasture-raised turkeys or ducks could also benefit from this mobile shelter. 

If you have lots of storms or raise birds in very cold weather, you'll want to add tarps over more surfaces than we have left exposed in our finished product images, so you can keep your poultry warm and dry. 

You can choose one of two options that will fit the design of your own livestock raising system - end doorway or double doorways. 

There's no cheap aluminum or low-grade steel in this design. This is a 50-year product. It's made by hand in Alabama on a 1,000-acre beef and bison farm, by farmers and for farmers. 

These are made with various sizes of steel pipe. This sturdy design helps you keep your livestock secure with a reliable, durable, and high-quality product.

Because these are hand-made in small batches, we will need some lead time to get them ready for you (typically one to two weeks from order date). We will email you within 24 hrs with an expected ship or pickup date. You may pick them up at Southern Roots Supply in Talladega once your order is ready, or we can deliver them to you for a cost. 

Delivery or transportation fees will be in addition to the listed product price. With states immediately surrounding Alabama, we can bring them ourselves for $3 a loaded mile, and states that are further away, we'll need to arrange a transportation company to pick them up.
