Steel Cattle Guards

Cattle guards are designed to deter livestock from crossing a barrier, such as a road or fence, by creating an area that is difficult or uncomfortable for them to walk on. You can get yours in steel to match your fence, either with or without gates, and in your choice of strength.

You count on your cattle grid to never fail to keep your livestock where you need them, so you need them as durable as possible for smooth farm operation. Install this guard a little bit raised up so the livestock are scared to cross it to keep them where you need them to be.

Gates come standard with 18" chain and hook, but you can change to a drop pin if needed (additional cost involved). You will need to dig down to place this cattle guard appropriately (this is the key to keeping the cattle from walking over them), lay down a weed barrier and gravel for drainage, then your cattle guard. You'll need to keep soil and debris from filling the area beneath the cattle guard to ensure a clear and functional barrier for livestock containment in the years to come.

There's no cheap aluminum or low-grade steel in this design. This is a 50-year product. It's made by hand in Alabama on a 1,000-acre beef and bison farm, by farmers and for farmers.

The heavy-duty cattle guards are made with 1 ½" Schedule 40 steel pipe. The extra-heavy-duty cattle guards are made with 6" x 2" square tubing frame on 30" centers with 2 ½" either Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 steel pipe.

Standard color is Red Oxide primer.

Because these are hand-made in small batches, we will need some lead time to get them ready for you (typically one to two weeks from order date). We will email you within 24 hrs with an expected ship or pickup date. You may pick them up at Southern Roots Supply in Talladega once your order is ready, or we can deliver them to you.

Delivery or transportation fees will be in addition to the listed product cost. With states surrounding Alabama, we can bring them ourselves for $1.75 a loaded mile, and states that are further away, we'll need to arrange a transportation company to pick them up. Delivery or transportation fees will be in addition to the listed product cost.
